Mastery Of Nimy - Waem Louis (1922)

Dish Maitrise de Nimy signed on the back WAEM Louis (1922) Diameter 31 cm Height 6 cm Eight young artists settled in 1943 in the buildings where Nimy earthenware was made, under the direction of Raoul GODFROID, director of the Académie voor Schone Kunsten from Bergen, in consultation with his friends Jules Moreau, director of earthenware at Nimy. Fernande Massart, Georges Destrebecq, Louis Waem, René Lemaigre, Pierre Monnaie, André Hupet, Irène Zacq and Geneviève Noe, who under the name of Maitrise de Nimy will be a pioneering movement aimed at raising ceramics to the level of art, in a context of production which had, until then, been essentially industrial. The group was dissolved after the final closure of the nimy factory in 1950.
