A pair of beautifully, romantic portraits from the mid-19th century was created in the style and manner of the famous Hungarian portrait painter Miklos Barabas (b. 1810). He studied at the Vienna Academy and in 1830 returned to Hungary where he worked as a portrait painter. Later Barabas traveled to Italy and worked in Rome, Venice, Florence and Naples. In 1840 he returned to Hungary and created portraits of almost all the celebrities of his time. His portraits are exhibited in many Hungarian private collections as well as in the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. Barabas worked actively until his death in 1898.
