Circa 1920-1940 France Beautiful evening or orientalist travesty jacket dating from the 1930s/1940s. Yellow-green silk satin embroidered with gold sequins and applied with gold thread cords. Fringes around the edge in gold thread trimmings. Kaftan-inspired cut with wide open pagoda sleeves, deep pointed collar and long slits on the sides. Closure of the jacket at the front by interior hooks and gold buttons with gold cord pass (one pass missing). Lining of the bodice in greenish glazed cotton and basques lined with matching green taffeta. No label, seamstress work entirely handmade probably for a masked ball or an oriental evening which was very fashionable between the two world wars.
