"Maison Gouffé In Paris Showcase Library"
Elegant small library or living room showcase from the late 19th century stamped with the stamp of the Gouffé workshop in Paris 46 & 48 Faubourg Saint-Antoine. Quality workmanship in a Louis XVI register presenting a partially solid kingwood and Cuban mahogany marquetry as well as a pretty speckled mahogany veneer on the facade, it opens with two doors decorated with gilded brass grilles in beaded frames in gilded bronze, the lower part is decorated with two doors simulating sliding curtains with an inlaid chevron motif. The faceted uprights are embellished with rudent grooves enriched at the top by finely chiseled gilt bronze flower drops. The set rests on top feet underlined with gilt brass rings. Very good state of conservation, lock to be reviewed and a missing shelf. Dimensions: 1 m 40 high X 1 m 20 wide X 38 cm deep.
