Period frame in black wood (usual wear), clear passe-partout. Frame dimensions: 43 x 52 cm.
Dimensions of the sheet: 38 x 46 cm. Signed in pencil and in the plate, dated 20/7/1912, located in Heijst, West-Vlaanderen.
Carl Maximilian Roland Anheisser (1877 in Düsseldorf -1949 in Jugenheim, Hesse) was a German painter, graphic designer, botanist, drawing teacher and writer. Roland Anheisser studied botany and zoology at the universities of Bonn and Jena. In 1898, he became professor of drawing at the University of Jena. In 1899, he obtained his doctorate. From 1900 he was an assistant at the Botanical Institute in Basel, where he also attended the School of Applied Arts and was taught by Franz Schider. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, his teachers were Walter Conz and Hellmut Eichrodt.
