Senior Officer's Sword Of Voltigeur / Grenadier Of The Imperial Guard flag

Object description :

"Senior Officer's Sword Of Voltigeur / Grenadier Of The Imperial Guard"
This beautiful sword which globally resembles the swords of the officers of the Imperial Guard can be attributed with precision: it is the model of June 15, 1857 for the senior officers of the Grenadier regiments of the Imperial Guard (2 regiments, then 3 thereafter ) and for the senior officers of the Voltigeurs of the Imperial Guard (4 regiments)
These regiments were engaged during the Crimean War, during the Italian campaign, where they suffered heavy losses, including among the officers, and finally during the Franco-Prussian War.
BLADE: It is a lozenge section blade, with two cutting edges which begin after a short ricasso.
The blade is marked at the level of this ricasso on one side "Coulaux et Cie" and on the other "Klingenthal".
On each side, control mark at B surmounted by a J. A .Bisch with star (controller from 1844 to 1861)
Blade length 77 cm, width near the guard 1.8 cm, thickness 0.5 cm
The blade has some very minimal traces of oxidation without gravity on the last 25 cm, which I only mention for the sake of accuracy.
MOUNT : It is a richly chiseled gilt bronze mount, with the shell fix part bearing the imperial eagle, and folding shell on th eother side, which can fold down along the blade.
The blocking mechanism of the mobile shell works.
The decoration of the fix shell represents the crowned Imperial Eagle, placed on a lightning stick, with 6 flags in the background.
The quality of the carving is fine The cruise/ quillon is decorated with laurel branches
The joining arc is decorated with 2 thunderbolts, on each side of a rosette
POMMEL: It is an inverted cone and features an eagle with outstretched wings, holding in its talons branches of laurel
GRIP : It is made of black horn, with  a gilded twisted wire filigree. The two ferrules are in chiseled gilt bronze.
SHEATH: In leather, with gilt brass scabbard entry, and richly chiseled brass bouterole
In addition to the certain historical interest, this sword has the advantage of being in a remarkable state of preservation, with almost all of its gilding original present, and with its scabbard in good condition, and never restored.
This beautiful senior officer's weapon should find its place in a collection related to the Second Empire. Ref CXYY-2257WBNVC
