Born in Orne, Marcel Loth joined Périgueux at the age of 27, to open an architectural firm there. Self-taught, he took up the brushes in 1943, working first around portraits and caricatures. After the war, he began his long path towards non-figuration which will lead him to flamboyant pieces, thick materials and unstructured geometric figures. During his life, Loth was the friend of the Périgord Jean Boyé, a discreet painter, and of the great Roger Bissière, who was a great inspiration. The painter's subjects are varied: modeled landscapes whether from Périgord or the Arcachon Basin, cubic urban landscapes, portraits and characters, or even sign paintings, symbolic of his work.
Our composition made in 1994 is a vertical subject of a black serpentine on a red and yellow background mixed with purple.
