"Chalice His Paten In Gilt Silver, France By Paul Brunet Circa 1900"
Chalice and its paten in gilded silver. Neo-Gothic style chalice in gilded silver resting on a molded projection base of eight lobes, extended by a tubular stem, toric knot bearing a molded inscription on a band around the knot: + HIC EST ENIM CALIX SANGUINIS MEI. On the base of the foot , a headband engraved with a frieze of foliage and fleur-de-lis in white silver, four medallions engraved in openwork and guilloché silver representing Christ blessing, the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph holding fleur-de-lis. A fleur-de-lys cross also adorns the foot terrace. The semi-ovoid cup is bare, but decorated with a band representing four evangelists. Paten with welded protruding umbilicus is decorated with the IHS monogram in an openwork surround and a guilloché frieze. The set is accompanied by a document from the Archdiocese of Paris dated 1902 Silver 950/1000, hallmarks Minerva Master Goldsmith: Paul Brunet / 1871-1913 / Chalice: Height: 22 cm Base diameter: 13.7 cm Diameter cut: 10 cm Net weight: 531 gr Paten: Diameter: 14.5 cm Weight: 96 gr Very good condition / without shocks or deformations or restorations Note: traces of use Transport box is original (worn exterior)
