Beautiful oil on canvas signed Charles Perron (1893-1958) representing the entrance to a village at the beginning of autumn. Charles Perron received training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes (1909-1913), then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris (1913-1914 and 1919-1921). Between 1914 and 1919, not mobilized for health reasons, he held a professorship in Nantes. He won the second Grand Prix de Rome in 1921. From 1936 to 1945, he was curator of the Nantes Museum of Fine Arts. The artist creates here a poetic work with soft lights evoking his certain affinity for nature and country scenes. This landscape illustrates several houses with orange tiles characteristic of dwellings in the south of the Loire. Our gaze rests on the expanse of water with luminous reflections contrasting with the autumnal colors of the vegetation and dwellings. Charles Perron creates shadows and gradients, combining soft colors that are delicately blended. It gives off a feeling of peace and calm. Time is suspended. This unique work bears the artist's signature at the bottom left and a plaque centered in the lower part bearing the inscription: "Charles PERRON - PRIX DE ROME" Surrounding the canvas, a magnificent frame carved in gilded wood matches perfectly with this bucolic scene. Rich in ornamentation, it presents stylized moldings and sculptures forming arabesques. Charles Perron signs here a harmonious and nuanced work immortalizing a rural scene with sensitivity.
