"Cup Bearer, Fon, Benin"
Statue depicting a standing female figure. The legs are bent, the hips are wide, the arms are folded at the level of the torso and the hands come to hold the breasts hanging down. The sculptor took care to make large nipples to accentuate the nourishing role of the breasts. The face is benevolent and the head is surmounted by a cup. This is a fairly rare depiction of a cup bearer. The carving is simple but, it is very delicate and balanced.
