"Walking Panther, Bronze Bas-relief."
Walking panther, bronze bas-relief on a cherry red marble base, bearing the BARYE signature and dated 1831. Posthumous edition produced towards the end of the 19th century with neat carving and an original medal patina. The dimensions indicated concern only the bronze part, the support measuring 17 cm x 10.2 cm x 1.8 cm. Slight traces of old oxidation, restored marble. Antoine Louis Barye 1795/1875 is considered the greatest animal artist of the 19th century, his talent will be recognized in France and the United States, responding to numerous official orders, the highest rewards will be awarded to him.
