"Textile Al Gold Print On Silk 1930 Surihaku Scarf Fichu Chale"
DELICATE 1930s SCARF IN BLACK SILK CREPE WITH GOLD PATTERNS OF MANTA RAYS AND FLOWERS, LIKE A PAINTING IN THE ABYSS, THIS PIECE WAS DESIGNED USING THE JAPANESE SURIHAKU TECHNIQUE WHICH CONSISTS OF PRINTING A TEXTILE USING A GOLD LEAF "IN THE PRESENT CASE" BY APPLYING IT TO THE PATTERNS PRINTED WITH GLUE THROUGH A STENCIL. EXTREMELY DELICATE TECHNIQUE AND WORTHY OF AN ANCESTRAL KNOW-HOW. THIS PIECE IS HAND-HEMMED, TWO TINY SMALL HOLES (SEE LAST PHOTO)
