"Buratto Embroidery Tablecloth In Silk Italy XIX S 105x130 Cm"
Buratto is sheer embroidery, created on a loom with a texture similar to loosely woven fabric embroidered over it with darning stitch. The tablecloth that I propose to you is in vintage blu silk fabric (spots and small holes) with a Buratto band around the entire perimeter. The buratto is a rare embroidery because it is very fragile and, in fact, the specimen that I am offering for sale has several defects, while retaining the design as a whole. The few specimens that have survived are found in the largest museums, and the oldest date from the first half of the 16th century. The Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York houses a valuable collection with colors and geometric patterns close to the one I put up for sale.
