"Small Tablecloth Italy XIXs Buratto Embroidery Cm 75x75"
Buratto is loose embroidery, created on a loom with a texture similar to loose weave fabric, embroidered over it with a darning stitch. The small tablecloth that I propose is entirely Buratto, it has some flaws but quite acceptable given the extreme fragility of this embroidery. Antique Buratto embroideries are very rare precisely because of their inherent fragility. The few surviving specimens are mainly found in major museums and the oldest specimens date from the first half of the 16th century. The Metropolitan Museum Of Art in New York houses a valuable collection with colors and geometric patterns similar to those I have put up for sale.
