Flintlock rampart rifle model 1717.
Barrel with a fleur-de-lis, ramrod.
Strong flat-body lock and swan-neck hammer.
Walnut stock in the shape of a cow's foot, marked with a fleur-de-lis, a "B" and an "L".
The rifle of rampart was mainly used against the embrasures of shooting of the fortifications or the batteries, in attack as well as in defense.
This type of weapon has a strong barrel that can carry a propellant charge of about twenty grams of powder, allowing a heavy bullet to be projected up to three hundred metres.
This weapon was used to eliminate targets categorized as priority: servants of artillery pieces, officers... who were positioned beyond the range of other weapons.
Very good condition.
