Rare Worker Item, Shoemaker Sliding Calipers, Circa 1800, Wood & Brass

Very interesting antique item, made from wood, with multiple gorgeous patinas, use & wear. The head comes off in two parts, and allows the lower one to be positioned at the desired size, thanks to a small iron tab. At the bottom, a small brass sphere stops everything, the bottom is also made from brass. Several sizes. On one side the centimeter, on the other the "Paris point" (0.666cm, invented in the 18th century) ranging from 5 to 48, and probably defining our sizes today. The 3rd side is also engraved with the "point de Paris", going from 1 to 12, then from 1 to 15.
Antique item, unusual, sincere and genuine, as we use to like them.. dating in my opinion, from the beginning of the 19th Century, perhaps earlier.
Excellent condition, stains and traces of wear and use, no flaw. The brass parts will need to be cleaned.
