Pair of watercolors by Jean Baptiste Jaffeux, representing a riverside and undergrowth. Our two landscapes forming a pendant are signed by the artist at the bottom left for the first and at the bottom right for the second. The colors are soft, note some small traces of wetting at the top left at sky level for the river landscape (see last photo). Sold unframed. Jean Baptiste Jaffeux is a painter born in 1906 in Riom in Auvergne and died in 1982. He is the brother of Charles Jaffeux (1902-1941) painter of the Murol school and also known for his engravings. His father François Jaffeux was a jeweler in Riom and passionate about painting and watercolourist like his son Jean Baptiste.
