The pipe, of classic Austrian size, twice mounted silver, (without visible hallmark) is of very good quality, sculpture on meerschaum, magnified by its smoky patina and polished by use. It has no flaws. Excellent condition. Pipe head, no stem, but original horn mouthpiece and silk tassels, pretty.
Decor: Portrait of the Sovereign carrying scepter, in an oval, under a crown surmounted by an Eagle, and, on either side, a gathering of helmets, glorious flags, cannons in compact lines, the underside of the pipe , at the site of the caressing palm of the smoker: a friendly smiling genius mask, (a little worn).
Dimensions: 11cm x 10cm x 5.5cm.

Maria Theresia Walburga Amalia Christina von Habsburg, born May 13, 1717 in Vienna and died in the same city on November 29, 1780, Archduchess of Austria, eldest daughter of Emperor Charles VI, who died childless, she succeeded her father in 1740 at the head of the hereditary possessions of the House of Habsburg in Austria, notably the Kingdom of Hungary, the Kingdom of Bohemia and the Kingdom of Croatia, from which she will receive the crowns. Considered by her contemporaries, who nicknamed her "the Great", as the de facto holder of imperial dignity, she governed as regent and then alongside her son Leopold II, who became Emperor. The only woman to have been sovereign of the possessions of the Habsburgs, she remained, in collective memory, as one of the greatest monarchs of her century. She had sixteen children, including eleven daughters, among whom, in addition to Joseph II, the Emperor of the Holy Empire Leopold II (1747-1792) and the Queen of France Marie-Antoinette (1755-1793).
