Object description :

"Mahogany Chest Of Drawers From The Consulate Period / Return From Egypt Attributed To Bernard Molitor"
Rare and beautiful chest of drawers in mahogany and mahogany veneer opening with three drawers, the uprights are straight and in Corinthian pilasters, the front claw feet and the rear feet with three decreasing balls, called a rosary. It is topped with a black granite from Belgium and has kept all its original gilded bronzes, as well as its cloverleaf locks and its key. Beautiful gilt bronze trim like the Corinthian capitals decorated with projecting bird heads, palmettes, acanthus leaves, flowers and windings with a beautiful alternation of matte and burnished. The pull buttons are also finely chiselled with a wreath of leaves. Three beautiful cloverleaf locks in perfect working order with a beautiful original key. Beautiful model from the consulate period in the "return from Egypt" style, marking the end of the 18th century and the very beginning of the 19th century, a style turned towards Antiquity and of great sobriety. Beautiful Parisian production, entirely built on oak with an exceptional quality of execution. Attributed to cabinetmaker Bernard Molitor (1755-1833). Received Master on October 26, 1787. The whole has been completely restored according to the rules of the art in order to regain its original appearance while retaining the traces of time. The Consulate period 1799-1804 as well as the campaign in Egypt 1798-1801, are very short periods and make this furniture rare. Nice piece for collector.
