This carpet is in very good condition, the mihrab is in the shape of a horseshoe specific to the prayer carpets of Istanbul and Bursa.
It is today above all an object of great decoration, having been used for worship at the sight of traces of use.
Two twin columns and a suspended inverted ewer adorn the niche.
The top of the niche is surmounted by a large plank with a heavily decorated blue background.
The bottom of the niche offers us three important decorative ewers, a sign of fervor and submission.
The beautifully combined colors for this rug are cream, linden, apricot, water green, midnight blue, Prussian blue and red, soft shades that are pleasing to the eye.
The use of a limited range of colors is one of the typical traits of the Ottoman court style known as "saz".
They are the rarest of this production which began in the middle of the 16th century in the factories of Brousse (Bursa) and Istanbul while knotting these carpets very densely for 600,000 knots per M2.
The fringes in very good condition have the same lengths on each side. ## Note the quality and finesse of the design of the borders, interlacing, flowers, colored foliage and placed on a cream bed cause a quality contrast;
Dimensions: 128 cm (50") x 179 cm (71") with fringes and of great finesse, thickness 4 mm.
Our model is in very good condition for its age, has the characteristics described above.
This rug is a very beautiful collector's item from the end of the Ottoman Empire.
This rug has been professionally and environmentally cleaned.
