Adrien Le Mayeur de Merpres Belgian painter, born March 16, 1844 in Boisfort. Died in Brussels in 1923. Post-Impressionist painter of seascapes and landscapes. He is part of the Dendermonde group of landscapers. He began in Brussels in 1870 where he exhibited very regularly at the Salons de la Ville. He also participates in the Paris Salons. He obtained 2 bronze medals at the Universal Exhibitions of 1889 and 1900. He exhibited successfully in Paris, Munich, Vienna, Chicago, Moscow. In 1911, he obtained the Gold Medal in Munich and was made Knight of the Order of Leopold and of the Order of Saint Michael of Bavaria. He is considered as one of the best marine painters.
