Large antique photographic print showing a Kanak tribe outdoors, New Caledonia. The men and young boys are armed with their traditional spears, the women carry the youngest children. All seem to stare at the photographer.This albumen print, the work of photographer Allan Hughan (1834-1884), is mounted on album cardboard. On the back a second photograph annotated in pen "House of the Attorney General head of the judicial service in Nouméa".
Very good general condition.
