"Large Pair Of 17th Century Flanders Bronze Candlesticks"
Large pair of bronze candlesticks, chiseled sockets decorated with acanthus leaves, large candle holders, columns with double balusters, on a flat round base. The different parts of the body of the candlesticks are strung on an iron rod fixed to the base, as shown in the photos. One of the candlesticks being seized up, we didn't want to force it to dismantle it. Model sometimes called "Heemskerk" from the name of the captain of a ship sunk in 1596 after this type of candlestick was discovered in the holds of the wreck. Height 46cm
