"Pair Of Portraits On Copper After H.holbein XVIIIth"
Beautiful portraits on copper, each being titled on the back and bearing inventory number, number reported at the top right of the portrait. “Hans Holbein – 1527 – Heinriche VIII” for the male portrait, “Hans Holbein – 1528 – Jane Seymour” for the female portrait. Regarding the portrait of a man, it would rather be a representation of Henry Guildford, and not of Henry VIII. This portrait seems to take over the portrait of Henry Guildford by Hans Holbein, kept at Windsor Castle. The portrait of Jane Seymour is also inspired by a work by Hans Holbein, made in 1536/37 and kept in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna (Gemäldegalerie inventory number, 881). These two works, in the style of Hans Holbein, are later, 18th century, but in a good hand and a beautiful execution. Size 20x17.5cm. Total dimensions, with frame, 33x30.5 cm.
