Imposing sauce boat in solid silver by Froment-Meurice, its garnish signed Odiot à Paris. On its polylobed frame with pinched ribs, the sauce boat sits elegantly, flanked by double console handles, with finely foliated appliques. Coat of arms surmounted by a knight's helmet, are engraved on one side of the marli, with the beautiful motto "each one his cross". The extremities of the frame as well as the reverse of the spouts are richly decorated with shells and plumes of leaves scalloped with small pearls. Note three small cracks on the inner lining, micro-marks and micro-scratches from normal use. Very good conditions for this exceptional piece, probably sponsored by a very important family leaving us its coat of arms. These two goldsmiths often worked together to deliver the high French and Russian personalities of the time. This lining also in solid silver Minerva 1st title, is stamped with the hallmark of the goldsmith Odiot and stamped with Maison Odiot. The sauce boat and its frame are stamped with the Froment-Meurice hallmarks. These two goldsmiths worked together for the biggest names of their time and left us with splendid works.
