The work in very good condition is offered in an elegant Louis XIV style frame which measures 55 cm by 62 cm for 38 cm by 46 cm for the work alone. It represents a landscape of the Alpes de Haute Provence where this adventurous and traveling artist often worked, it is signed lower right and located on the back "le Val du Nid d'Amour à Céreste". Son and grandson of an industrial soap maker from Marseille, owner of the Carlevan countryside in Allauch, studied at the Sacré-Coeur boarding school, then he entered the School of Fine Arts in Paris, a city where he stayed from 1906 to 1912, and where he discovered the Impressionist painters. After the First World War, he became friends with Louis-Mathieu Verdilhan and worked with him in Cassis where he became Winston Churchill's teacher. He claims the Foundation of the Academy of Allauch, and also realizes several decorative sets in Marseille for the Opera, the Annex of the Palace of Justice as well as for the Pavilion of Provence at the International Exhibition of Paris in 1937.
