Sumptuous baroque style "sun" monstrance in sterling silver , hallmark of the city of Ghent for the period 1831-1868 and of the master goldsmith Henri Decurte active during the period 1848-68. It is of breathtaking finesse and quality of execution. All the figures in the round and bouquets of flowers are surprisingly realistic. The style, proportions and decorations of this monstrance are inspired by the great monstrances of the early eighteenth century. It weighs 2550 grams.
