" Locksmith Blacksmith's Shoehorn , Medieval, Rare Object"
Curious shoehorn, nicely wrought iron worked, was set on fire by someone who knew how to make hollow keys as they were made by means of -age, in the Romano-Gothic period: he took up the technique, starting from a flat ingot, which he hammered convex, he split the end, to work it into a ring at the tip of the anvil, folding back the excess to double the rod in return, (clearly visible on photo), it is well hammered-welded, clean work, (and very technical).... see photo which illustrates my guess.
