Large white marble group from the first part of the 19th century representing the Virgin with the Child in her Arms and Saint John the Baptist. Pretty sculpture in a block of white marble, with a virgin who has a very tender and gentle face, the Child Jesus in her arms intertwining him and she holds Saint John the Baptist by the other hand. The Virgin's draping is very well executed as is her hair. Beautiful ensemble giving off a beautiful emotion. Nice proportion too; 109cm high Some gaps on the Child's fingers and a toe at St Jean Baptiste, a few scratches visible in the photos.
