Suite of 6 engravings representing The Prodigal Son, prints and colors of the XVlllème era. These prints, probably printed abroad in the style of popular imagery, have no printer’s name. Can we think of a German impression?
This subject, often treated, is very moral. However, he recommends forgiveness for the son of a family who squanders his inheritance!
Plate 1: The son asks for his share of inheritance and the father gives it to him (fold and tear on the left).
Plate 2: The son takes leave of his grieving family (small tear in the tree).  
 Plate 3: The son spends his inheritance in lust in the company of women.
Board #4: The ruined son is swept away by women. 
Plate 5: Poor and wretched he keeps the swine.
Plate 6: The repentant son returns to his father who forgives him!
Presented with a modern Louise marie, they are not glued and are with their margins. Good general condition despite some "usures" due to their great age. The very sought after costumes as well as the beautiful old colors give them a charm typical of this time. The sets and the architectures make for each plate of small theatrical scenes. Beautiful series.
