"Silver And Indian Sequined Cannetilles Headdress - Germany Early Nineteenth Century"
Early 19th century Germany or Alsace Beautiful rigid headdress decorated with silver metallic embroidery probably from southern Germany or Alsace (?) and dating from the beginning of the 19th century. Paper mache frame covered with cream silk pongee wrapping the bun and forming a braid at the bottom. Clever silver embroidery of sequins and cannetilles forming the relief of a large stylized flower. At the bottom an embroidered pass retaining rigid pleats. Iron wire decorated with lace around the perimeter and calico lining with a chimney sweep dating from the beginning of the 19th century. Small attachment link in pink glazed cotton to hold the bun. A few very rare silver threads missing. Clean and unoxidized part. Very good general condition of structure and preservation. Dimensions: Diameter 15 cm. Height 20cm.
