Young girl receives a gift. Oil on panel 65x54, signed Gustave Jacquet. 'Original frame in wood and gilded stucco 92x80. Jacquet is a French painter and illustrator. A pupil of William Bouguereau, he perfected the classic Academic manner of his master. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1865, obtaining a third medal in 1868 and a first medal in 1875. Fu was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1879. Specialist in female portraits and genre scenes in the style of the 18th century, his wrought its very inspired by the past and shows a certain delicacy in taste. Painter so much in love with the female gender, that he transmits it in his magnificent portraits and in his works full of poetry, where he highlights the beauty and charm of the models he depicts.
