AQUAPENDENTE (Jérôme Fabrice d') - Surgical works of Hierosme Fabrice d'Aquapendente, famous doctor, surgeon, and anatomical professor at the famous University of Padua. Divided into two parts, the first of which contains the surgical pentateuch; the other all the manual operations that are practiced on the human body. Lyon, Chez Antoine Huguetan, 1670; in-8, table and privilege, XIV-936 pp. + table of contents XX pages, contemporary full calfskin binding, spine adorned with 4 raised bands, title label in red morocco, marbled edges, lower crown missing, damaged corners, fragile joints. The second part includes some full-page engravings of surgical instruments of the time. Good edition of the treatise on surgery by Jérôme Fabrice d'Aquapendente who discovered the valves inside the veins. He was one of the first to study embryonic development in vertebrates.
