"Large Holy Water Font In Glazed Terracotta, Saintonge, XVIIIth."
Rare and large stoup in glazed terracotta, pink earth and green glaze. The rectangular backsplash is flanked by 2 atlantes. It is adorned with a Christ surmounted by "INRI" and is surrounded by two medallions representing Mary and the risen Christ. The Cross, surmounted by a cherub's head, rests on a leafy heart. Globular basin with beaded edge. Origin: Saintonge 18th century Provenance: private collection: it presents old restorations and some égrenures. Height; 34cm width; 19 cm depth: 10 cm
