"Bronze "
Bronze with brown patina signed Charles B. "Themis Goddess of Justice" is a work with mythological inspirations produced in the 19th century. The goddess is represented there blindfolded as a sign of her impartiality. She holds a sword in her hand, a symbol of the punishment she applies, and a pair of scales in the other as an illustration of the balance she maintains. The snake she crushes on a book is the embodiment of evil defeated by law. She is traditionally dressed in a long corset dress. This sculpture rests on an anthracite gray marble base with groove. This symbolically charged work will delight art lovers and collectors.
