"Pair Of Regulate Vases, A. Moreau - Late Nineteenth"
Pair of spelter vases with double patinas, signed Auguste Moreau (1834 –1917). Son of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste-Louis-Joseph Moreau and younger brother of the sculptors Hippolyte and Mathurin Moreau, he is recognized for producing mainly exceptional art bronzes. Having never received an official award, this notoriety will only occur post-mortem. This pair of baluster-shaped vase with green patina represents vegetation embellished with a bird chasing dragonflies, and a swarm of butterflies in search of flowers to forage. Young children with brown patina, lightly dressed, clinging to an inclined plane, carefully scrutinize this nature. This artistic production, signed A. Moreau, presents the seal of the founder, Eugène Blot Paris, at the foot of the vase. Moreau realizes, through his work, a real ode to youth and nature, bucolic and idyllic.
