Léon Pilet (1836-1916) French sculptor and medallist, born in Paris in 1840 and died in the same city in 1916. A pupil of Armand Toussaint, Pilet exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1861 to 1914. He won an award at the 1889 Universal Exhibition. Several museums now house his works, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Reims (‘Bethsabée’), and the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence (‘Un coup de vent’).
