Paul Éluard, by Eugène Émile Paul Grindel 1895; 1952.
French poet, one of the main representatives of the surrealist movement.
Jean Picart Le Doux France 1902 ; 1982 :
He began in bookbinding and publishing, then devoted himself to advertising and graphic arts and published his first works in 19353. His first tapestry cartoons date from 1943 after winning the first theater poster prize at the Salon de Imaging. Before the war, he worked with Jean Lurçat on a cover project for Harper's Bazaar magazine, the latter encouraging him to study tapestry. Between 1939 and 1945 he created his first cartoons without knowing the tapestry technique. With Jean Lurçat and Marc Saint-Saëns, they founded the Association of Painters and Tapestry Makers in 1947. Jean Lurçat was its president and the last two vice-presidents. He was a member of the board of directors of the Société Nationale des Beaux Arts, decorative arts section, from 1975 to 1980.
