"“gu” Mask, Gouro People, Ivory Coast"
Mask presenting a female face. The facial features are fine and the head is topped with an elaborate hairstyle. The teeth are shown filed down, which is a mark of beauty. This mask, called "Gu", represents the wife of the "Zamble" mask in the "Zaouli" dance. The nose is not pointed, but is flattened at its tip.It is a very beautiful achievement from the beginning of the 20th century.
