Object description :

"Pair Of Large Vases With Allegories From 19th Century Source"
Description:
Painted and gilded biscuit and porcelain.

These very large Paris porcelain vases are richly decorated on the front with two different very detached scenes in the round representing allegories of sources. In the background, different ancient and medieval landscapes each represent a river, born from these sources.
A man and a woman among reeds and each with their hand on a vase from which water flows, are the allegories. The quality and richness of the details make these vases sculptures.
We will notice a heron with a fish in its beak, a swan taking the flowers of the feminine allegory . Drapes with patterns reproducing lampas dress the two protagonists. A gold painted decoration of great quality and finesse highlights the upper edge of these vases, it represents two tree trunks on the height of the vases whose canopy makes an arch on the front, the back of the vases is entirely covered with A vermicular or so-called coral decoration, this work is a feat of gilding painter. This spectacular but elegant model is particularly unusual, it is a work made around 1830,1850. We will think of Gille Jeune as a creator for example.
As with Paris porcelain in general, we will note under the base a hollow mark in the glaze.

Condition: almost intact , so , perfect for such an china item, there is just a small chip at the tail of the fish, which is exceptional given the quantity of detached elements. Slight wear to the gilding on the interior gilding of the rim but not on the patterns.
Dimensions:
height: 53cm, base diameter: 26 cm.
