Object description :

"Felice Rubbiani (1677 - 1752), Attr., Still Life With Parrot"
Felice Rubbiani (Modena, 1677 - San Pancrazio di Freto, 1752), attr.
Still life with parrot, fruit and flowers
Oil on canvas, cm 71 x 97
With frame, cm 110 x 84

In the canvas under consideration is depicted a composite still life of fruits enlivened by a colorful floral bouquet. On two perspective planes on the first level a piece of still life of fruits and vegetables where you recognize the peaches, pears a trumpet zucchini and a melon accompanied by the representation of an exotic parrot and a lively composition of flowers, The roses are identifiable.  The second raised floor is also enriched with fruits (peaches and pears) and a branch of jasmine flowers. The composition is depicted in an external frame where the black fronds of the trees open to the vision of the clear sky and a mirror of water in the distance. The painting can be attributed to Felice Rubbiani (Modena, 1677 - San Pancrazio di Freto, 1752). The painter was trained in Bologna with Domenico Bettini and, paraphrasing the biographer Girolamo Tiraboschi in his eighteenth-century collection of news about artists of the Este duchy, he distinguished himself for his singular talent in painting flowers, Fruits and animals with the audacity to represent them on a living, light background. The canvas in question is linked to the artist’s catalogue and only the delicate chromatic colour suggests a dating of maturity, taking into account that the absence of dated works makes it difficult to give a chronological order to its production. The composition expresses a grace of rococo taste, with soft and delicate tones of elegant decorative taste.
