A silver and carved mother of pearl snuff box.

Chinese and English, early 18th century.

Measures 8.3 x 6.7 x 1.4cm.

The lid of the snuff box is set with a mother of pearl plaque carved in relief with a mythical animal within a rocky, woodland landscape. The plaque would have originated from China and mounted as a snuff box by an English silversmith in the early 18th century.
