Object description :

"Paris 1834-1847 – Solid Silver Drageoir Mount From The Louis-philippe Period, Vieillard Mark"
Medicis-shaped covered drageoir in solid silver 1st title (493 grams) by master goldsmith Étienne-Auguste COURTOIS. It rests on a circular pedestal decorated with a chiseled frieze of water leaves on a square base with four ball feet. The body has an openwork decoration of arches, palmettes and friezes of fleurons, the handles are with acanthus scrolls finished with a pair of doves, symbol of love. The ogee lid is topped with a blossoming seed socket with foliage worked with repiercé.

•    Master goldsmith: Étienne-Auguste COURTOIS, goldsmith in Paris from 1834 to 1847.

Étienne-Auguste COURTOIS is a silversmith in Paris, specializing in tableware. His workshop is located at 62 Rue du Temple. COURTOIS registered his hallmark on January 8, 1934, and end his activity on January 5, 1947.
