Dimensions: 57 cm in diameter Florimond (Flori) Van Acker is a Belgian painter, draftsman, lithographer and watercolourist. His artistic style is neo-romantic and impressionist. He was director of the Bruges Academy at the beginning of the 20th century. He won the second Prix de Rome in painting in 1883. Florimond (Flori) Van Acker (Bruges, April 16, 1858 and died in the same city on March 14, 1940) is a Belgian painter, draftsman, lithographer and watercolourist. His artistic style is neo-romantic and impressionist. He was director of the Bruges Academy at the beginning of the 20th century. Belgian Prix de Rome. Florimond Arthur Joseph Marie van Acker, born in Bruges on 16 April 1858, was the son of Léonard Van Acker, a weaver, and Anne Françoise van de Woestyne. He studied at the Academy of Bruges with Bruno Van Hollebeke and Eduard Wallays and later at the Academy of Antwerp with Charles Verlat. From 1879, he continued his studies at the Academy of Brussels with Jean-François Portaels and Joseph Stallaert. He won a second Prix de Rome in painting in 1883 for the painting The Resurrection of Lazarus. He made study trips to England, Germany, Italy and France. He devoted a large part of his career to teaching fine arts at the Academy of Bruges, which he directed from 1910 to 19262. He painted historical and religious compositions, genre scenes, urban landscapes (of Bruges), landscapes and portraits.
