Son of the carpenter Pierre Reuze, François Reuze, a Parisian seat carpenter, obtained his master's letters in 1743 and set up his workshop on rue de Cléry where he worked for around fifty years. He received numerous royal orders and was the main manufacturer of furniture for Queen Marie-Antoinette and the court of Sweden. His production includes some Transition style chairs and Louis XVI chairs, but the majority of his models seem to favor the Louis XV style. We can mention large armchairs à la reine, sofas, armchairs with wide flared backs... The sculptures with which he adorns his works, often luxurious, are abundant and original, composed of foliage, rockery, scrolls or shells.
