"Paste On Paste, Pair Of Limoges Porcelain Vases By Chaufriasse"
Pair of Limoges porcelain vases by Marcel Chauffriasse. This is the technique known as "paste on paste" initiated by the Sèvres factory in the mid-19th century and then exploited with equal success by Minton in England. It consists of decorating, with white slip in successive layers, a previously fired colored piece. After firing, the effect is similar to that of a cameo with the addition of transparency effects.
