WORKSHOP Parrocel, Provence XVII century, oil on canvas.
Ecce Homo Christ in frontal view with the pretense of stigma, stands between the soldier and Pilate.
Pilate takes the robe of Christ and extends his hand toward the viewer, the soldier custody the accused, christ is crowned and wears his crown of thorns.
Note that this kind of painting often rises with engravings such as etching Jan COLLAERT dated 1587 whose design is JOANNES Stradanus, Bruges 1523, Florence 1605, Publisher: JOHN Wales (1600-1676)
