The Galerie Alix Basier is offering for sale a selection of works of art from the 19thᵉ and 20thᵉ centuries. A period of artistic effervescence illustrated by the various Salons, the turn of the century saw the emergence of numerous currents and styles that contributed to the evolution of public taste. While remaining open to a wide range of genres, the gallery specialised in a few key areas: in particular, the movements of Symbolism and Art Nouveau, as well as Romanticism, Realism and Orientalism. Works by artists featured in the world's greatest museums sit alongside those of talented anonymous artists. Through careful research, the gallery endeavours to place the works in their historical and artistic contexts, so as to highlight the work of artists.
